Bruce Strahan passed away

Bruce Strahan, 89, passed away June 17, 2009, at local hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Cottonwood Cemetery in Cross Plains, Texas. Bruce was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Fort Worth, to James Howard Strahan & Emma Belle Clark-Strahan. He attended school at Baird, Cottonwood, and Abilene. Bruce graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1938. He attended A&M University two years followed by attending and graduating from Houston Dental College and graduating in 1944. Bruce married Miriam I. Stanford of Waller, Texas in 1943. Dr. B. B. Strahan served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 after which he practiced a short period in Cross Plains, Texas, followed by a long career in Odessa, Texas. He was called back into service during the Korean War eventually retiring from Odessa in 1978. After retiring from dentistry in 1978, he and his wife moved to his ranch in Hamilton, Texas, where they spent several years before finally retiring to McGregor. Bruce B. Strahan is survived by his wife, Miriam Inez Stanford; his son, Bruce B. Strahan Jr. and wife, Billie Jean Lutz-Strahan of Austin; daughters, Darlene Beth Strahan-Fertitta-Schnizer of McGregor, and Cynthia Belle Strahan of Waco; grandsons, Charles Bruce Strahan of Dallas, William Allen Strahan and wife, Becky of Plano, Michael Phillip Strahan of Atlanta, Ga., Anthony Julian (Fertitta) Strahan of Austin, and Paul Boyd Strahan and wife, Susie of Tulsa, Okla.; great grandchildren, Charlie, Mitch, Megan and Katie Strahan of Plano,; and his brother Harold Virgil Strahan and family of Cottonwood, Texas.
