If You'd Like to Donate....

If you're looking for somewhere to send a donation before the end of 2008, here are come of Cottonwood's worthwhile causes:

Cemetery Care & Maintenance. The Cottonwood Historical Association takes care of the cemeteries which need lots of mowing the spring and summertime. Send a donation to them at: P. O. Box 704, Cross Plains, Texas 76443 and be sure and label your check "Cemetery Fund".

Community Center (Old Cottonwood Schoolhouse). The Cottonwood Historical Association has recently taken over the care & maintenance of the Community Center. Send a donation to them at: P. O. Box 704, Cross Plains, Texas 76443 and be sure and label your check "Community Center Fund".

Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Control Group maintains a firehouse and three firetrucks. They are always in need of donations for uniforms, hats, shovels, etc. Send a donation to them at: 13210 CR 429, Cross Plains, Texas 76443. The organization is also working on the Brush Fire Truck to get it ready for service. If you'd like your donation toward the firetruck, be sure and label your check "Brush Fire Truck Fund."

Historical Marker. The Cottonwood Historical Association is taking donations to replace the Cottonwood Springs Historical Marker that was stolen this past summer. The new marker will cost $1100. Send a donation to them at: P. O. Box 704, Cross Plains, Texas 76443 and be sure and label your check "Historical Marker Fund".

Old Post Office and Methodist Church. The Cottonwood Historical Association takes care of those buildings, too. The Cottonwood Post Office had wood replaced and was the outside was re-painted earlier this year. The Methodist Church received a new roof in 2007 and the outside was painted earlier this year. Work on the interior of the church will be starting soon. If you'd like to help with either of these projects, Send a tax-deductible donation to them at: P. O. Box 704, Cross Plains, Texas 76443 and be sure and label your check for either building.

New Firehouse. Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Control Group is raising money with the Benefit Prize Drawing to build a new firehouse to keep the the brush truck in. Send a donation to them at: 13210 CR 429, Cross Plains, Texas 76443. The organization is also working on the Brush Fire Truck to get it ready for service. If you'd like your donation toward the new building, be sure and label your check "Firehouse Fund."

There maybe other worthy causes in Cottonwood that we missed.
